Family Guidance and Outreach Center and Rape Crisis Center projects
3 hours
Service

Last Thursday I went to the monthly Volunteer Center meeting and while the meetings themselves did not dedicate any service to the community, certain projects we did at those meetings did, including the ones we did last Thursday.
First, we helped out the Family Guidance and Outreach center by helping the kids that colored some clothing items and we cut them out for those kids for half an hour.
Then, we helped out the Rape Crisis Center by decorating notebooks with accessories and leaving inspirational quotes that would reach a rape victim to help them get through the hard times.
This totaled to an hour of service.

Also, in April, as part of the Youth Advisory Board and Youth in Philanthropy, we took 2 hours to decide how much money we give to each non-profit organization that asks for help out of the $7500 we receive.  While all the projects were very helpful to the community, we had to take over time and decide on priorities since we couldn't give the full amount to every project and I also learnt to communicate ideas with everybody else on the board to decide on an amount that we were all satisfied on to give to each project. The Rape Crisis Center was one of the organizations and we managed to let them fulfill the goals of giving each rape victim a 'goody bag' including the notebooks and us decorating them.
